Autoscript Rentals supports Rory Peck Awards 2014
Autoscript Rentals, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company, is delighted to have once again supported the Rory Peck Awards that took place on 19 November. The awards recognise the contributions of freelance camera operators that risk their lives, either abroad or in their own countries, to deliver news.
Autoscript donated the prompting technology, including a WinPlus operating system, for the ceremony. In addition, The Rory Peck Trust used an Autoscript operator and technician for the event.
Started by the trust, a charitable organisation set up in 1995 to honour freelance cameraman Rory Peck who was killed in Russia while working, the awards highlight the importance of freelancers and how much the newsgathering industry relies on their contributions.
“The awards are not only a reminder of how we began as an organisation, but also, importantly, they highlight to the public the incredible work that freelance camera operators, video journalists and shooter/director/producers do,” says Tina Carr, director of the Rory Peck Trust. “Without them we’d have a poorer understanding of the world, which is especially true this year as it has been a difficult and dangerous year for freelancers.”
The ceremony was held at London’s BFI Southbank and was hosted by Alex Crawford OBE, Sky News special correspondent, and Lindsey Hilsum, Channel 4 News international editor.
“We really value our ongoing relationship with Autoscript Rentals, as well as the contribution the company and its equipment makes to help produce the awards each year. On award night it is crucial that things run smoothly and once again we relied on Autoscript to help us achieve this,” concludes Carr.
